    • Save the Bell Tower, let the Bells Ring Again!
      St. Camillus 75th anniVersary

St. Camillus Parish was established on July 18, 1950; its first pastor was Fr. John E. Sullivan, and the first Mass was celebrated on Palm Sunday, April 29, 1951. The church was dedicated on October 1, 1961, by Richard Cardinal Cushing.

The St. Camillus chime was installed in 1966 and is one of only eight in Massachusetts with more than 14 bells, making it a rare and treasured instrument. They consist of 14 beautifully crafted bells cast by Royal Bellfounders Petit & Fritsen of Aarle-Rixtel, Netherlands, one of the world’s oldest family-owned bell foundries (est. 1660). The bells have been the joyful voice of our parish, calling us to prayer, marking life’s milestones, and reminding us of God’s presence in our midst. Today, the bells are silent due to significant structural deterioration in the Bell Tower.
Together, we can bring them back to life! LEARN MORE

Or that its construction was overseen by one of the first Black priests in United States history? Uncover these stories and so many more in the virtual tour HERE.
