Every October, our Collaborative Finance Councils provide a recap of the previous fiscal year's performance. On this page and the following, you will see a recap of their report for St. Agnes and St. Camillus. We humbly request that you spend time reviewing this information as we prepare for our annual Offertory Re-Commitment.
We ask that you prayerfully consider your sacrificial contribution to our faith family. Thank you.
Dear Parishioners:
The accompanying statements represent the financial condition of the Catholic Parishes of Arlington (CPARL) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026 and also highlight our financial budgets for the 2027 fiscal year. This annual report is presented by the Parish Finance Councils which provide financial oversight and advice to our Pastor on money matters. We hope that they will help you understand how your contributions and gifts to CPARL are used and accounted for and will encourage your continued generosity.
St. Agnes Parish ended the 2026 fiscal year with net operating income of $30,938. Offertory receipts were well below budget and also lower than those for the prior fiscal year. St. Camillus Parish ended the 2026 fiscal year with net operating income of $150,972. An increase in rental income over the previous year and additional fundraising donations helped the parish maintain a positive cash flow. Both parishes were able to control their operating expenses through more efficient management and better allocation of central expenses among our collaborative entities.
During the year, St. Agnes Parish received substantial bequests totaling $4,745,430 of which $2,311,017 are subject to a 5-year waiting period before we are able to spend the funds. The unrestricted funds enabled us to undertake $1,099,892 in necessary capital expenditures, including purchasing a new Pastoral Center located at 9 Chestnut Street. Repairs were made to the Church organ, choir loft, external Church doors, and the parking lot and retaining wall behind the Church and Rectory. Soundproofing was also added to Hope Hall. Contributions of $98,319 to the Grand Annual appeal helped defray a portion of these expenses. These bequests also enabled the parish to generate additional net non-operating income of $3,613,428 and to end fiscal year 2026 with net assets of $5,061,179, which provide St. Agnes Parish with solid financial stability.
Other activities at St. Camillus Parish included a survey and assessment of the property, installation of new exterior signs, and repairing the heating and air conditioning systems in the Church. These capital projects cost $16,291. At the end of fiscal year 2026, net assets increased to $948,536.
Additionally, a Generosity Fund, financed by a tithe of the unrestricted portion of all major bequests, was established at St. Agnes Parish with an initial balance of $200,000. Approved distributions from this fund include support for the Chipata Church project in Zambia, Blessed Andrew Phu Yen Parish renovation in Medford, Fr. Marc’s 25th Anniversary Class reunion, Arlington Catholic High School Hintlian field upgrade, and the much-needed rebuild of Our Lady of Refuge Church in India (Fr. Alwin’s home parish).
Capital projects for the 2027 fiscal year will focus on several areas that need attention in St. Agnes Church – painting, vestibule floor, sanctuary floor, sacristy door, pews, and main floor. The addition of windows to the wall behind the altar is also being considered. The bell tower at St. Camillus Church needs critical and substantial repair; a special fundraising effort, launched for this purpose, has raised $98,688.00 of an approximately $350.000.00 needed.
The Grand Annual Part 1 collection takes place on the weekend of October 25th, 2026. Once again, we are requesting that each working person donate $350 to the first part of the Grand Annual Collection. We hope that those who are able, will respond by being even more generous. We also recognize the need to strengthen the regular Offertory Collection which is the primary source of operating income for our collaborative activities.
Another meaningful way to ensure that our mission continues for years to come is through a Legacy Gift. By including St. Agnes Parish or St. Camillus Parish in your will or estate plan, you leave a lasting expression of your faith and values while helping to ensure that the work we do together today continues to inspire, serve, and strengthen future generations.
Gratefully, we encourage your prayerful consideration and support of our Offertory and Capital Campaign. The fulfillment of our mission rests, in great measure, on the dedicated team of volunteers who generously contribute their time and talent; we strongly encourage your participation, as fully as you are able. Our clergy and staff remain deeply committed. We anticipate a busy but fruitful year ahead for the Catholic Parishes of Arlington.
Respectfully in Christ,
Very Reverend Marc J. Bishop, V.F. (Pastor, Saint Agnes Parish and Saint Camillus Parish) Patricia Cullinane, Christopher Doyle, Valeria Ramdin, Theresa Tanner, and Michelle Walata (Saint Agnes Parish) Jean Bender and Kevin Duffy (Saint Camillus Parish)
